This exhibition is hosted by the Consulate General of Uruguay in Guangzhou and the Cultural Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, and co\u2011sponsored by the National Meat Institute of Uruguay (INAC), Art Institute of the Orient, and Bodega Garz\u00f3n (Uruguay) \u2013 EMW Fine Wines. On the opening day, guests from all walks of life gathered in Shamian for this intercontinental visual gala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Masyang, Consul General of Uruguay in Guangzhou, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He noted that gaucho culture is a precious treasure of South American culture, and expressed his hope that this exhibition would serve as a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and Uruguay, allowing more Chinese audiences to experience the humanistic allure of Uruguay. After the speech, guests entered the exhibition hall for free viewing and exchanges, delving into the life and spirit of the gauchos through the artworks. The opening event concluded successfully in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gauchos are nomadic communities inhabiting the grasslands of Uruguay, Argentina and other South American regions. For centuries, they have lived alongside horses and made a living from cattle herding, becoming one of the most iconic cultural symbols of the South American continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2003 \u5e74\uff0c\u6444\u5f71\u5e08\u8def\u6613\u65af\u30fb\u6cd5\u6bd4\u5c3c\u5728\u4e4c\u62c9\u572d\u5317\u90e8\u4e0e\u9ad8\u4e54\u4eba\u76f8\u9047\uff0c\u4e00\u53e5 \u201c\u9ad8\u4e54\u4eba\uff0c\u5c31\u662f\u4ed6\u811a\u4e0b\u7684\u90a3\u7247\u571f\u5730\u201d \u6210\u4e3a\u6574\u4e2a\u7cfb\u5217\u7684\u521b\u4f5c\u6838\u5fc3\u3002\u4ed6\u957f\u671f\u6df1\u5165\u9ad8\u4e54\u4eba\u7fa4\u4f53\u751f\u6d3b\uff0c\u7528\u955c\u5934\u8bb0\u5f55\u4e0b\u8fd9\u4e2a\u6b63\u5728\u6d88\u901d\u7684\u4f20\u7edf\u65cf\u7fa4\u7684\u65e5\u5e38\u4e0e\u7cbe\u795e\u5185\u6838\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2003, photographer Luis Fabini met a group of gauchos in northern Uruguay. The line “The gaucho is the land he treads upon” became the creative core of the entire series. He lived among the gauchos for months on end, documenting the daily life and spiritual essence of this fading traditional community through his camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u672c\u6b21\u5de1\u5c55\u5c55\u51fa 33 \u5e45\u91c7\u7528 19 \u4e16\u7eaa\u94c2\u94af\u5370\u76f8\u5de5\u827a\u7684\u9ed1\u767d\u4f5c\u54c1\uff0c\u642d\u914d\u5f71\u50cf\u4e0e\u6587\u5b57\u8d44\u6599\uff0c\u5b8c\u6574\u5448\u73b0\u9ad8\u4e54\u6587\u5316\u98ce\u8c8c\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This touring exhibition presents 33 black-and-white photographs produced with the 19th-century platinum-palladium printing process. Complemented by video footage and text annotations, the exhibition offers a complete portrait of gaucho culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He once traveled with Zen Master Moriyama Roshi and created the series The Life of a Zen Master<\/em>. His first photo book Gauchos<\/em> was published in 2012, followed by Cowboys of the Americas<\/em> in 2016, which expanded his vision from Uruguay to the equestrian culture across the entire American continent. He is currently working on the Harvest<\/em> series, continuing to explore the interdependence between people, food, and the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
